WITH the big wet hopefully well and truly passed, the track at Grafton Greyhound Racing Club should be in peak condition for racing this evening which is highlighted by four heats of the Willow Park Pre Training sprint series.

The opening heat, which is also the first race on the program, looks to be one of the more difficult heats to assess, with no Grafton form and some slow-beginning locals to battle it out for favouritism.

Each of these is a difficult element to line up when assessing form.

Digger Deego is one of the newcomers to Grafton and he has been racing in good form for the Ryan Newstead kennel.

On his day he can show good early speed but typically he is just a fair beginner who takes a little time to get fully into stride.

Likewise he has also shown a preference for a wider draw because he does like to step to the right slightly when leaving the boxes.

Interestingly this is the first time he has drawn inside box 3 in 15 career starts so in many ways he is on trial from an inside draw.

His form and ability suggests he will be right in the mix but perhaps punters should be a little wary if he is served up at a short quote.

Another Grafton debutant is Kingsbrae Chooky for Charlie Northfield.

In a short career to date she has shown good acceleration but can be a shade tardy from the boxes on occasion and is another which looks better suited off a wide draw.

Still with her early speed she could get enough room from the boxes to sprint to the lead.

The local hopes look to be Shags for Reg Gardoll and Black Zac Bonus but these runners are not noted reliable beginners and each will be looking for luck at the right stage of the race.

Certainly each can take this out but with all of the question marks surrounding the main chances the race is simply too difficult to get involved in.

The second heat looks to be a clear-cut battle between Ibra Cadabra for Samuel Dart and Put Thongs On for Allan Lang. …
