RUGBY LEAGUE: Maroochydore/Coolum coach Brett Winkler reckons there's no better time than the present, which is why he's not too concerned about this weekend's crucial match with joint leaders Caloundra.

Injuries and player unavailability - a similar story for all Division One teams this season - has decimated the Maroochydore side in recent weeks.

The Swans started the season with five wins on the trot, but have slumped to three consecutive losses.

"We can't complain too much about injuries because everyone gets them, but we've had a bad run over the last five or six weeks," Winkler siad.

"We've had Josh Buckland, Brad Kent, Joe Meninga and even Jason Wardrop out with a broken hand.

"There's also been a couple of guys working interstate for three or four weeks."

But Winkler hopes to welcome a few back this weekend, including Wardrop, who was recently rewarded for his top form with another Queensland Country selection.

He will play for the Queensland Rangers against the New South Wales Ron Massey Cup side at Pizzey Park on July 24. …
