10:00 Liam Fee's murderers sentenced Gateshead woman Nyomi Fee, 29, has been jailed for life and ordered to spend a minimum of 24 years in prison for the murder of her partner's son Liam Fee. Her civil partner Rachel Trelfa, or Fee, 31, was jailed for 23-and-a-half years for the murder of her two-year-old son in Fife. The couple were also found guilty of a catalogue of abuse against two other children. The seven-week trial was held at the High Court in Livingston, although the couple had been living in Ryton, Gateshead.

Liam suffered a ruptured heart as a result of severe blunt force trauma to his body.

London gets more investment than every other region combined, Mr Corbyn said.

The Labour leader demanded the Government invest more in the North East during the weekly session of questions to the Prime Minister in the House of Commons.

14:34 Hit and run probe launched after man found injured on Benton roadside A hit and run inquiry has been launched after a man was found injured on a North Tyneside road. At around 5.35am on June 29, a 24-year-old man was discovered lying on the side of the road on Ashleigh Grove in Benton. He is believed to have been involved in a collision and suffered serious, but non-life threatening, injuries during the incident.

Police have been carrying out investigations and believe the vehicle involved was a taxi, although the make, model and company were not known. Officers believe the same taxi was involved in a similar incident on Goathland Avenue in Longbenton earlier that morning.

They are now urging any witnesses to come forward as soon as possible to help them with the inquiry. …
