Wet Weather Is on Its Way

CENTRAL Queenslanders can expect cloudy skies and wet weather as the area braces for moderate to heavy rainfall over the next few days.

A spokesperson from the Bureau of Meteorology in Rockhampton advised areas north of Burketown to Emerald could expect 24 hour rainfall totals of between 20 to 50mm.

And rainfall totals will reach anywhere between 50 and 150mm around the coast between Bowen and Harvey Bay with a possibility of even heavier rainfall through Friday to Sunday.

The Bureau spokesperson said this amount of rainfall was a seasonal event similar to that which hit the region about a month and a half ago.

"It was similar to that, so it's not unusual sort of weather but having said that there are certain years where these kinds of things don't eventuate," they said.

A strong wind warning has also been issued today with possibilities of strong wind warnings being issued for tomorrow and Saturday. …
