Drive-Through and Shops Units Vision Could Mean 109 New Jobs

A McDONALD'S drive-through restaurant and three shop units are proposed for a site near Skelton - potentially serving up more than 100 jobs.

New plans submitted to Redcar and Cleveland Council show the drive-through and shops planned for land at Pheasant Fields Lane, off the A174.

The land is next to the existing Asda store and filling station, and close to the proposed site of an Aldi store and Marston's pub.

A design and access statement from HOW Planning says the biggest retail unit will have a 2,090sqm floor space, with a 464sqm garden centre. The two other units are 464sqm. They will have 154 car parking spaces, while the McDonald's will have 34 parking spaces. The full line-up has yet to be finalised, but B&M and McDonald's are confirmed. The restaurant would be the first McDonald's to open in East Cleveland.

HOW Planning says the Pheasant Fields scheme would provide around 109 jobs - 42 at B&M, 22 in units two and three and 45 at McDonald's. …
