Mason Puts in Hard Yards for State Run

CROSS COUNTRY: He may be young, but Mason Beadman has already learned where hard work and training can take him in sport.

Today, after five months of training, the 11-year-old Westlawn Public School student will represent North Coast at the NSW PSSA Cross Country State Carnival

He will race up to 100 other children at Eastern Creek in Sydney.

Mason, who has been running in cross country events since he was in Year 2, said this would be his first time competing at a state carnival in Sydney.

"I am pretty excited, I'm looking forward to the run," he said.

"I don't know how I will go in Sydney, but I think I'll go well. I'm just looking forward to competing."

Mason's mother Katrina has been his coach for the past five months, and she said she was proud of how motivated Mason was. …
