MY feet are killing me. Or rather this house is killing me.

Western red cedar requires a certain level of attention to keep it looking great.

Of course we didn't realise that when we bought the property.

We thought the black stains on the timber were just a normal weathering process.

Well it isn't. It is mould.

We discovered this after a visit by our local paint expert who told us what it was mould and that we would have to remove it.

Have you tried to take mould off western red cedar?

This is a pole home. The walls are at times about three metres from the ground and about five metres high. Are you doing the maths?

We got out the high-pressure hose and decide we would gerni the outside walls but of course nothing is ever straight forward.

We haven't installed any taps in the yard as yet as we are still trying to work out the plumbing. …
