ATHLETCS: She is too young for next week's Rio Games but if Year Five student Lara Parker continues her stunning trajectory in track and field, age will be no barrier for future Olympics.

At the Rockhampton District Primary Schools Athletics Carnival, Parker came away with a fresh batch of ribbons.

At her own count, she has amassed at least 50 overall.

Last year she represented Queensland at the Australian titles in sprints and finished in 11th place.

She said it made her feel "cool".

"I am the second fastest girl in Queensland, it is very cool," the Frenchville State School student said.

"Everyone at school gets a bit scared and then boast about trying to beat me.

"They all go 'that's the girl that made Queensland'.

"I'm fastest in my whole school, even better than the bigger kids and the boys.

"It can be nerve wracking going up against the older kids though, but its okay. …
