ARE you planning a wedding?

Why not tie the knot in Urangan's Pier Park, where a wedding shelter is taking shape.

Fraser Coast Councillor George Seymour said the building followed an increase in popularity of the area being used for wedding purposes.

"As the park has grown to include the former rail line, so too has its popularity as a wedding venue," Cr Seymour said.

"The new shelter will improve facilities for weddings as well as offer a covered area for events."

The wedding shelter is being built by Heritage House Recyclers, and is anticipated to be completed next month.

Along with the improved shelter, the building process will also include turfing and the installation of irrigation and landscaping.

There has been $145,000 assigned to the project.

There will be no charge to use the shelter and the facility can be booked online on the parks and gardens page of Fraser Coast Regional Council's website at frasercoast. …
