CHATTON TROUT FISHERY 01668 215 226 / NE66 5RF Sport is improving, with mornings and evenings excellent times to be fishing. Gordon Swain from Dipton landed 12 trout on Buzzers while Trevor Wadds from Craster caught 20 over two visits on Bloodworms and Buzzers. Michael Watson from Newcastle caught 14 trout on dries. DERWENT RESERVOIR 01207 255 250 / DH8 9TT The wind stirred the trout up this week which encouraged fish into the margins. Raymond Whaley had eight trout for 17lb while Turna Duneri had a fine bag of eight for 19lb, including a cracking 6lb rainbow. Ray Fothergill had seven trout, including on five over 3lb on fly. 1500 trout will be stocked again this week including tagged trout. Bibio, Daddy, Black Fritz, Orange Fritz, Zulu, Hoppers, Muddlers and nymphs all did well. Purple-Pink Garlic Powerbait Eggs, Orange Powerbait Eggs worm and spinners all did well for bait anglers.

FONTBURN RESERVOIR 01669 621 368/ NE61 4PL Trout were more active in the shallows this week due to fresher conditions. Spinning and fishing baits just of the reservoir bottom proved effective. Glen Parker took his eight trout for 22lb. O Erasap landed a 4lb 5oz rainbow; the trout of the week. Mr and Mrs GR Carr caught 10 trout for 20lb 8oz. B Pyle and D Gilchrist landed limits for 17lb 8oz and 16lb 4oz while Ian Salmon had eight fish for 15lb 8oz. Top flies were: Dawson's Olive, Black Zonker and Damsel Nymph. Chartreuse Powerbait Eggs and Mepps were top baits. GRASSHOLME RESERVOIR 01833 641 121 / DL12 0PW Trout have moved out of the depths this week and the female anglers took advantage. Jayne Kenny and Darren Griffiths used Yellow Powerbait to landed six good fish including one of 6lb 8oz. Sharon Moore and partner landed 12 with Sharon accounting for 11 of them! Steve Smith from Darlington landed the fish of the week at 7lb 12oz caught on Orange Powerbait Gulp Eggs. 1000 trout are to be stocked this week. Dawson Olive, Black Buzzer and Black Fritz were top flies with Mice Tail and various Powerbait Eggs top baits.

HIGHAM LAKES 07950 428 159 / NE20 0DH Sedges have been the top pattern fished static in the mornings or evenings. Bloodworm, Damsels and Black or Orange Fritz are also taking trout. David Wrtight from Monkseaton returned a 12lb rainbow caught on a Black Fritz. Steven Jobling from Birtley returned a 10lb 4oz rainbow which took a Damsel. Richard Wood from Belsay returned 32 trout over three visits on dries and Blobs. HURY RESERVOIR 01833 641 121 / DL12 9UP Anglers had fine surface sport this week with plenty of big catches made. Jonny Swinbank landed 11 trout roving the banks. His success was with CdC patterns. …
