Centurion Mo Hails a Great Day for England

CENTURION Moeen Ali hailed a fine first day for England as they got out of trouble in the fourth Test against Pakistan.

Having won the toss at the Oval, England slipped to 110 for five before Moeen and Jonny Bairstow put on 93 for the sixth wicket.

Finding further support from Chris Woakes (left) in a partnership of 79, Moeen then powered on to his century to take his side to 328.

The early dismissal of promising Pakistan opener Sami Aslam capped the day off as the tourists closed on three for one.

Moeen said: "It was a great day in the end, we'd have taken 320 from where we were and the wicket we got, he showed in the last Test he's a good player and it's a big wicket."

Reflecting on his increasingly familiar spot in the late middle order, Moeen continued: "I have good players to bat around, with Bluey (Bairstow) and Chris Woakes in there as well. …
