RAFA Benitez believes Newcastle United's magnificent fanbase is capable of making the club's home debutants run an "extra mile" as they prepare to make their home bow against Huddersfield Town.

In an interview with the Chronicle, the former Real Madrid gaffer has revealed he used the fact Newcastle attract 50,000 Geordies at every home game as a selling point during summer transfer talks with his new boys.

Benitez was referring to Matt Ritchie, Isaac Hayden, Grant Hanley, Ciaran Clark, Mo Diame, Dwight Gayle and Jesus Gamez, who could all have their first taste of playing in front of 50,000 Geordie supporters.

On a day when Moussa Sissoko may be on the end of boos, Benitez wants the support levels to be at their usual high standard.

He told the Chronicle: "I think they will get the support, I have never had any doubt about that.

"At the same time, it is not just about one game, there are 45 more. We have to be ready, of course.

"The players know they have to compete but they to feel the pressure but in a positive way. …
