Fugitives in Our Midst; Australia's Most Wanted Targeted in Latest Campaign

NICHOLAS Paul Byrne is regarded as one of Australia's most wanted fugitives and he could be hiding on the Northern Rivers.

Crime Stoppers are asking for the public's help to find 19 fugitives wanted for questioning over serious crimes, launching Operation Roam - Fugitive Stop.

Byrne is wanted for child abuse offences committed in Queensland and is believed to be on the Northern Rivers or the Gold Coast.

During 2010, Queensland Police charged Byrne for committing offences against a child.

He pleaded guilty to these charges but later failed to appear for sentencing at Bowen Queensland.

A warrant has been issued in Queensland for his arrest.

Byrne is 46, has brown eyes, brown hair, a fair complexion, medium build and is 175cm tall.

The profiles of 18 other persons-of-interest have been posted online, with authorities asking the public to be on the lookout, and contact police if they have any information. …
