Magpies to Listen to Offers for Krul

RAFA Benitez has admitted Newcastle United would be willing to listen to offers for Tim Krul this summer, writes CHRIS WAUGH.

The 28-year-old Dutch international goalkeeper has been out for 10 months with a cruciate kneeligament injury but is set to return to full training within the next two weeks.

Matz Sels was brought into the club this summer, making the Belgian the fifth goalkeeper in the squad along with Krul, Karl Darlow, Freddie Woodman and the currently-injured Rob Elliot.

Benitez signed Sels - who has started United's opening two Championship matches - to avoid the crisis scenario of last season when Elliot became injured and Darlow was left as the only senior stopper in the squad.

Juventus and Crystal Palace are just two of the clubs who have been linked to Krul and, given the Dutchman has less than a year left on his current deal, Benitez admits the goalkeeper who has been at St James' Park for more than a decade could yet depart.

However, should Krul stay on Tyneside, Benitez would also give the goalkeeper the opportunity to force his way into the side. …
