THE Wattles Warriors have been preparing this past week to tackle the Warwick and District Junior Rugby League 2016 finals series, which start on Saturday at Stanthorpe.

The club that boasts 160 registered players in 2016 will see their Wattles' Under 11, 12 and 14 teams advance to the finals after impressive seasons. They will each contest knock-out semi-finals on Crisp Oval at Stanthorpe's McGlew St Sporting Complex.

Wattles Under 11 outfit takes on Warwick's Collegians Dragons at 9am, the Under 12 line-up will run on against the Eastern Suburbs Hornets at 10.50am, with the Under 16 side challenging the Goondiwindi Boars, kicking off at 1.30 pm.

Wattles have had what can be described as yet another successful season, continuing to play a vital role in upholding a great rugby league tradition that has existed on the Central Downs area for almost a century.

The club is also very proud of the recent efforts of former player Matthew Denny, an outstanding performer on the footy field who is representing Australia in discus at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro currently.

Admission to the Warwick and District Junior Rugby League semi-finals in Stanthorpe is $5 for over 16 years, with the young Warriors hoping to see a big band of supporters roll up to cheer them on.

The Warwick and District JRL preliminary finals are being hosted at Goondiwindi on August 27, while the league's blue ribbon grand final day will take place at Inglewood's MacIntye Sports Complex on September 3.
