FORMER Toon star Fabricio Coloccini has picked up more points than his old side this season after being caught speeding.

Defender Coloccini showed pace many United fans thought was long gone when he was clocked doing 51mph in a 30mph zone while at the wheel of his flash BMW near Newcastle United's Benton training base.

The 34-year-old was snapped by a speed camera on Benton Lane on December 8 2015.

Coloccini, who left United this summer after eight years on Tyneside, was not at Gateshead Magistrates' Court for the hearing and is believed to be in Argentina, where he now plays for San Lorenzo de Almagro.

In his absence, chairman of the bench William Carlyon gave the player six penalty points.

He also ordered him to pay a PS500 fine, a PS50 victim surcharge and PS85 court costs.

Coloccini, who is believed to have been earning PS60,000 a week while at Newcastle, has 28 days to pay up. …
