BASKETBALL: She has played two WNBL seasons with the Townsville Fire, a number of seasons in Belgium, a season in France, a season with San Antonio and one with Washington.

But something eludes Rockhampton Cyclones star forward Shanavia Dowdell... a maiden premiership.

By Sunday night, that could have changed as she embarks on her first grand final series.

"I am nervous but excited. It is my first time competing in a grand final so I can't wait," Dowdell said.

"This is what we have worked hard for the whole season and we have made it.

"Now we have to be focused and give it everything we have got if we want to get another championship."

Dowdell, who was last at the club in 2013, had one eye transfixed on the Cyclones and missed being part of the set-up.

When coach Chris Muggeridge came calling it was a no-brainer.

"I really missed Rockhampton and I wanted to give it another go," the power forward said.

"When Chris asked if I wanted to come back this year I didn't hesitate. …
