CRYING over cake mixture, horror over buttercream and bickering over buns - Bake Off is back with a cherry on top.

It may seem to be the most incredibly polite contest on TV, in the bunting-draped tent, amid china tea cups, with squirrels chattering outside. But don't be fooled.

After custard-gate in 2013 and the Baked Alaska 'bin-cident' of 2014 and, you just never know what trouble lurks ahead.

As always, mischievous presenting pair Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins are on hand with endless baking puns and innuendo - and to nab as much cake as possible (who wouldn't?).

While the contestants will have to withstand the cold hard stare of Paul Hollywood and raised eyebrow of Mary Berry as they demand the best.

And the new batch of bakers are already a bit stressed out - one has been dreaming about being chased by cakes, another confesses to shouting at pies, while another wants to ask Mary to be her nan. …
