ALDIN GRANGE LAKES 07901 538587 / DH7 7AR Trout are feeding hard on Emergers and Buzzers near the surface. Peter Clarke landed 18 good fish on a Hares Ear and Emergers on a four-hour ticket. G Walker landed 13 on CdCs and Buzzers. M Stewart caught 14 on PTN and GRHE. CHATTON TROUT FISHERY 01668 215226 / NE66 5RF Anglers have had to work harder for their sport, with Buzzers, Daddies, Dries, Diawl Bach and Hare's Ear all producing sport. Visiting rod Paul Duerden landed a fine 6lb 3oz rainbow on a Godlhead Hare's Ear. The fishery hosted several competitions this week, with Shaun Guthrie and Adam Bathgate joint winners of the Pond Father Trophy. Aptly named Kris Fish won the Hoy and Hope Fishing Club competition with a fine 5lb rainbow. Ronnie Smith won the Morpeth Conservative Club competition with the heaviest trout caught.

DERWENT RESERVOIR 01207 255250 / DH8 9TT Anglers averaged three fish per visit with lots of bag limits recorded over the weekend after yet another stocking of trout. D Lee bagged his limit for 18lb 12oz. Colin McLeod from Bishop Auckland landed his bag limit in quick time from the disabled platform. For the fly angler the advice is to use a Muddler or Sedgehog pulled through the waves for some exciting sport. Bibio, Olive Nymph, Cats Whisker, Orange Fritz, Muddlers and Sedgehogs were top flies. Garlic Eggs and White Eggs were top baits.

FONTBURN RESERVOIR 01669 621368 / NE61 4PL Anglers faced challenging conditions once again, with trout lying deep. Heavy rainfall brought levels up and this improved sport.

Roy Athey from Seahouses took a fine limit for 16lb. David Hamilton from Ashington caught five good rainbows for 9lb 12oz. Seven three-pounders were landed. R Cowen and P Shields had a joint bag of 10 fish for 16lb, while Geordie Clark had six fish for 10lb 10oz. Top flies were: Black Pennell, Dawson's Olive, Daddies, Hoppers and GRHE. White Garlic Powerbait Eggs and Mepps were top baits.

KIELDER WATER 01434 251000 / NE48 1BT Anglers averaged three fish per visit with trout to 5lb 2oz landed. Adam Plumb fished near Otterstone Lea on Bull Crag catching a 4lb 12oz rainbow on fly. …
