joanne watkinson ARE you ready to back away from broderie Anglaise and sandals? Are you one of those people for whom summer ends on the final Bank Holiday of the year and from then on it's autumn clothes only? I'm a hanger on. I'm not ready to give up on summer yet. The good weather has barely even got started so how can it be over so soon? I quickly swipe past any references to 'roll on winter' and fashionistas eager to get back into the boots and coats. It's all too sad.

I'm happy to be the one bleating on about an Indian summer in September. I'm not ready for velvet (which is set to be the fabric of AW16) and I don't want to hide my summery pedicure in a pair of ponyskin boots yet bbut it doesn't stop me browsing for future reference.

Now let's not confuse summer clothes with holiday clothes, you won't see me sporting tie-dye or poms poms in the super market, but there is a happy medium, a middle ground between full-on winter clothes and dressing like you're on the Costa del Sol. …
