WHAT a welcome home for the Coast Olympians last week at the new-look Maroochy RSL.

It was terrific to see the smiling faces and especially the family and friends of the athletes who gathered to say well done.

The welcome home road show continued this week, starting at the Opera House in Sydney and finishing off tomorrow in Brisbane.

The Gold Coast will be the last function on Saturday and then the countdown begins for the 2018 Games.

The Federation was delighted to hear Rio Olympians and Commonwealth Games gold medallists Jodie Kenny and Alana Boyd are considering one last hurrah and go out with a home Games.

Olympic gold winner Brittany Elmslie is also committed to diving into the Gold Coast action, her Glasgow performance was not her best.

Fellow Rio athletes Taylor McKeown, Jake Packard, Leah Neale are also focusing on making the team for the event that will change Australia.

As Brisbane 1982 did, the 2018 Games will unearth many new stars of tomorrow and give the next generation a legacy. …
