I have to admit that this film's trailer was underwhelming and did not entice me to watch the feature, meaning that I was pleasantly surprised when I found myself engaged with the story.

The idea of the film is: what happens to your pet when you leave for work every day?

Intriguing? Yes.

Enough to fill two hours of an engaging family film? Actually, yes.

In a world when almost every film release is a sequel, prequel, reboot or spin-off from a book, TV series or film, The Secret Life of Pets is a fresh film that defies the trend.
