Win All Natural for Hannah; Young Jockey Makes Mostof Pick-Up Ride at Ipswich

APPRENTICE jockey Hannah English notched up her first win at Ipswich in the current season with a win aboard All Natural for trainer Darren Bell at last Friday's meeting.

It was a late pick-up ride for the young apprentice and only her second ride for trainer Bell.

The 2.5 kilogram claim for Hannah English may have made the difference as she replaced fellow apprentice Tiffany Brooker who only has a 1.5 kilogram claim.

Brooker had been the regular rider of five-year-old-mare All Natural having won twice on her at Ipswich from five previous career starts.

The record is now three wins, all at Ipswich from six career starts for this promising mare who trainer Darren Bell would be keen to return to Ipswich with given the strong record.

English has only collected a handful of provincial wins although it is now two at Ipswich after winning aboard Daddy Long Legs back in April.

After riding for just over a year, she has 47 wins at a handy 15% strike rate with most of these wins having been on the country non-tab circuit as a fledgling apprentice.

Murphy's double bettered by Byrne

FORMER Irish apprentice Michael Murphy rode a double before premier Ipswich jockey Jim Byrne went one better to make a statement last week.

Murphy won aboard Captain Dodge for his master trainer Chris Munce and made it a race to race double aboard Gothic Might for Tim Hurley in the next. This double moved Murphy to five season wins at Ipswich just five weeks into the 2016-17 year.

However Byrne showed he is not finished with winning Ipswich Premierships and went back to the premiership lead of six wins by collecting a winning treble.

Byrne won aboard How Big's The Hole for Chris Anderson, Our Girl Charlotte for Jared Wehlow, and The Umbrella Man for premier trainer of the past two seasons Tony Gollan. …
