SATURDAY'S front page headline and the Page 5 inside story was just another media propaganda blitz by city editors promoting marriage for gay males and lesbians.

If your paper is a champion of democracy, as it should be, you should be promoting a plebiscite where Australian society can decide if it wants such radical change as marriage between a man and another man, and a woman and another woman.

I have always believed, and will continue to believe, that marriage was a stated public expression of an emotional and physical bond between a man and a woman, and the term cannot be applied to members of a union of both members of the same sex. Call theirs something else, but don't call it marriage, as that would devalue the recognised worth of marriage between men and women who value it.

Change for change sake is not change for the better.

Politicians cannot be trusted to put the will of the people foremost, if they should be encouraged to vote privately on it. The two major party's politicians will always chase votes and advantage for themselves by sucking up to special-interest groups, so it has to be decided by community decision. …
