WWITH just two days to go until the biggest half marathon in the world takes place on our doorstep, we're wishing everyone taking part in the Great North Run, especially those who are raising money for the RSPCA, tonnes of luck.

Over 57,000 people will pound the streets of Tyne and Wear on Sunday, including many from County Durham and North Yorkshire and many who are running in aid of the RSPCA.

The 13.1 miles from Newcastle, across the Tyne Bridge and finishing on the South Shields seafront, will see first-class athletes from around the world running alongside those who are doing a half marathon for the first time, as well as everyone in between.

The RSPCA's #TeamAnimal is made up of people who have been moved by something they've read, heard, seen on TV, or their own personal experiences of the RSPCA and who want to contribute to helping some of the most cruelly treated animals in the country.

When my husband and I took part we chose to raise money for the two North-East RSPCA animal centres that had directly cared for our dog Dee, for many months, while an investigation and subsequent prosecution case involving her previous owners took place. …
