AFTER a two-week break, Newcastle United return to Championship action at Derby County on Saturday, hoping to build on the momentum of four consecutive wins in all competitions.

We recall how the two clubs have fared against each other across the decades: | |First meeting: November 28, 1898, Baseball Ground (much later to gain notoriety for its quagmire of a pitch). In United's first top-flight campaign, the famous Steve Bloomer scored twice for The Rams in a 3-1 win. Willie Wardrope was on target for the visitors.

| Last meeting: February 9, 2010, Pride Park. United suffered just four defeats on their way to the Championship title in 2009-10. This was one of them. Goals from Rob Hulse, Kris Commons and Shaun Barker gave Derby a 3-0 victory.
