BEN Gibson insists Boro are adjusting quickly to the demands of the Premier League.

Aitor Karanka's side made a solid start with a three game unbeaten run before suffering a set-back in Saturday's Riverside reverse to Crystal Palace.

Centre-back Gibson admits the elite division has posed a difficult physical and mental challenge with every fixture - but says Boro are learning fast.

"I think we are equipped to deal with this division but yes, every game is a big test for us," he agreed.

"We expected that though. The Premier League is very tough, very demanding and going into the season we knew it would really test us.

"We were under no illusions on that.

"We knew this league would place new demands on us, physically and mentally and all over the pitch.

"We knew every game would test us in a different way but they are demands we all believe we can cope with.

"Players are that bit quicker, that bit stronger and more technical but that is the Premier League and it's the league we want to be in.

"If we want to compete and do ourselves justice and stay in this league then we need to adapt quickly."

We knew would demands on and mentally the " Boro were given a torrid time in the first half hour against Crystal Palace at the Riverside on Saturday and paid the price as Alan Pardew's team took the lead after a slip at the back.

Ben They fought back to level only to concede another sloppy start and despite a final flourish in which they piled on the pressure they couldn't salvage the game and lost 2-1. Gibson admits Boro fell short but has vowed to make amends - and says the slip shouldn't blind people to the positives in the start.

"It has been a good first three games for us but against Palace we weren't quite at the levels we have been and we were punished for that," he explained. …
