THE zombies walk among us. Or at least they will be on October 8.

Slap on your face paint, ready your "brains" and join the group of youth and service providers walking down Prince St to help combat mental health issues in the community.

Seventeen-year-old Shania Knight said the community had suffered a lot over the last 14 months.

"There have been so many of my friends who have committed suicide and so many have attempted," she said.

"I think that this Zombie Walk would be an amazing thing to come to as it raises awareness for youth mental health," she said.

"Not only that but it gets the community involved, together and united as we should be."

Community Development Officer (Youth) for Clarence Valley Council, Giane Smajstr, said the walk was an opportunity for the community to support young people.

"It's got a youth mental health focus, it's part of October Youth Mental Health Month and it's an opportunity to breakdown stigma attached to health seeking. …
