ABOUT 7am on Saturday a resident reported seeing smoke in the air, and just three hours later Queensland Fire Emergency Crews were fighting an angry bushfire blaze along the Bruce Hwy in Benaraby.

The fire spread quickly, sending thick plumes of black and brown smoke into the air. Emergency services warned drivers to slow down on the road, close their windows and report any sightings of changing conditions.

Five crews worked to put out the fire, backburning near the council dump.
