I FAIL to see how the LNP can seriously suggest that their poorly thought out and under-resourced plan is better than our regionally focused Back to Work Program.

Our plan to get Queenslanders Back to Work includes:

$10,000 for any business hiring an unemployed jobseeker;

$15,000 for any business hiring a long-term unemployed (out of work more than 12 months);

On the ground Back to Work teams, to work with local employers and job seekers; and

Access to $10 million of additional training

Back to Work is already delivering results in Wide Bay: it's supporting 37 workers in new jobs - that's real jobs for real local workers.

The government is also providing a 50% payroll tax rebate to employers who hire an apprentice or trainee.

Contrast this to the LNP's promise of $4000 grants only to businesses with a turn-over of less than $2million and only if they employ a young person.

The LNP can't seriously be suggesting that a program that offers $4000 to a limited group of employers to employ a limited group of job seekers is more attractive to regional employers than our program that provides payments of $10,000 or $15,000 to all businesses. …
