Make Most of Home Comfort Urges Jarrett

MARSKE United manager Carl Jarrett wants his team to take full advantage of their home games in the next few weeks.

Marske had an excellent 5-0 away win at Dunston UTS in midweek, and that has set them up nicely for a sequence of games which Jarrett hopes will put them into the thick of the title race, beginning on Saturday at home to Chester-le-Street.

"We have seven home games in our next nine," he said. "If we win most of them, that will put us on a nice little roll."

Jarrett signed midfielder Peter Bulmer from Guisborough before the Dunston game, and the new signing was on target after just three minutes.

"I thought Peter looked very balanced, and he added quite a bit to the team. I took him off after 70 minutes, because he'd given that much. "The workrate throughout the whole team was fantastic, and we want that to continue for the rest of the season. Not many will go to Dunston and win 5-0."

Striker Reece Kelly is doubtful for Saturday's game, while midfielder Nathan Evans has gone out on loan to second division Thornaby.

Guisborough manager Steve Dowling admits he's at a loss to explain how his players threw away a 4-0 lead on Wednesday night and managed to lose 5-4 in the last 30 minutes, which means they still haven't won a league game in six attempts at the King George this season, a barren run which has helped to drop them into the bottom six.

They're at home to Consett tomorrow, and Dowling said; "I'm still trying to work out what happened. We fell apart, and Seaham deserved to win."

Jordan Galloway and Thomas Blighe will both be missing.

The big game of the day in the second division is between Billingham Town and unbeaten league leaders Stockton Town.

Billingham are currently ninth in the table after beating Hebburn in midweek and manager Barry Oliver said: "There is a positive mood we are looking to build on that and remain focused on the game against a very good Stockton team. …
