Lawyer Killed in US Train Crash Had Just Left Toddler at Nursery

A MOTHER killed in a train crash that injured more than 100 people in New Jersey had moved to the US this year and was househunting when tragedy struck, her family revealed today.

Corporate lawyer Fabiola Bittar de Kroon, 34, right, from Brazil, was looking to settle down with her husband and their 18-monthold daughter when she was killed by falling debris at Hoboken station.

Mrs de Kroon's mother said she was a "beautiful girl inside and out". She was the sole fatality in the crash which injured 114 people when a commuter train went through the buffers at 8.45am yesterday. Witnesses said it was going so fast it shot 30ft into the air and destroyed the station's roof.

Train driver Tommy Gallagher, 48, was found unresponsive at his controls. He was released from hospital after treatment and was said to be cooperating with police. Crash investigators are looking into whether he was distracted or suffered a medical event, or if there was a mechanical failure. …
