Triple-Whammy Win for New Pop

IT WAS the "best weekend ever" for Oakey man Murray Bradford.

Not only did the die-hard Cronulla Sharks supporter watch his team end rugby league's longest drought when they won the premiership on Sunday night, but he celebrated his 50th birthday and welcomed the latest Sharkie into his life.

Mr Bradford was already on a high when he and wife Heather became first-time grandparents to Rylan Alexander John Bradford, who was born last Tuesday to parents Shanesse Davis Knauth and Jake Bradford.

Then Mr Bradford thought it was just pure luck that his 50th birthday landed on the same day as the NRL grand final starring his favourite team.

However, when the Cronulla Sharks managed what no team to wear the blue before them had done, then Mr Bradford was just speechless.

"I've been a Sharkie since grade eight in 1979," he said.

"It was against the odds but we got there - we waited so bloody long. …
