DOUBLE Commonwealth swimming champion Chris Cook will be guest speaker at County Durham Sport's Sport and Physical Activity Awards at the Ramside Hall Hotel in Durham on Friday, October 14.

South Tynesidebased Cook (pictured) will deliver an inspirational speech to around 300 guests at the dinner and also present each award winner with their trophies.

Seven sports awards will be presented including Coach of the Year, Young Coach of the Year, Club of the Year and Sporting Achievement of the Year.

|THE Northumberland Girls County Golf Championship was played at Bedlington GC.

Rosie Belsham of Whitley Bay (above left, on right) won the Trish Todd Trophy for best gross over 36 holes after a back-six countback over Niamh Lendrum.

Olivia Hartley of Whitley Bay (above right, on right) won the 18-hole Swinburne Trophy.
