SWIM CLUB: Warm jackets and anything thermal was the dress code for swimmers this week.

The water temperature for the start of the summer season was a little more than cold, although it was described in not so flattering words by some members.

Despite the cold and accompanying cramps the heats began and the finals seemed to come around quickly.

Jenny Vickery, Ian Davis, Richard Sear and Damien O'Mahony battled it out in the final of the 50m.

By the time the swimmers had covered three quarters of the distance it was obvious it was going to be a close call.

Searsy was first to touch the tiles followed by Jenny and then Marno. With correct times being called these were the registered positions.

Next up was the final of the Stephen Donnelly Explosive Cup. Steve himself qualified for this final along with Ian Davis, Terry Marsh and Damien O'Mahony.

Steve, wanting to get out of the water as quickly as possible, covered the 30m in good time, taking the win from Terry in second place and Damien scored third. …
