Tweed Coast Players Trip Up; Raiders Arrested after Brawl

SIX men associated with a Tweed Heads rugby league club have landed themselves in hot water after an end-of-season trip to North Queensland turned sour.

The men were among a contingent of Tweed Coast Raiders players who had travelled to Cairns to celebrate their season but five of the men were arrested after a brawl at a popular nightspot.

Jordan Curry, 34, James Fletcher, 32, Jack O'Brien, 24, Jackson McKenzie, 22 and Benjamin Andrews, 21, were arrested following a brawl at the Attic nightclub on Saturday night.

Just hours later Grant Anthony Dalziel, 27, was charged with drug possession after being arrested outside Cairns hotspot, Gilligan's Backpackers.

All six men appeared in Cairns Magistrates Court on Monday.

Their actions have been condemned in some quarters and the club has distanced itself from their behaviour.

Club president Glen Winters refused to comment on the incident but stated that the end-of-season jaunt was not a club-sanctioned activity. …
