Jacks Crowned Player of Year for Falcons

RUGBY LEAGUE: NRL-bound halfback Ryley Jacks was last night recognised as the Sunshine Coast Falcons player of the year.

The 24-year-old was presented with the James Ackerman Medal after steering the state league side to the preliminary final, the club's best result since 2010.

"It's great reward for Ryley after a fabulous season," Falcons chief executive officer Chris Flannery said.

"He was picked (to win) by his peers and that's probably the thing as a player you really cherish," Flannery said.

Jacks came to the Falcons in the off-season from Burleigh and quickly became an integral part of the squad.

"He brought a new dimension to our attack, with the way he directed the team around. He's got a great kicking game and is a very smart footballer," Flannery said.

By the end of the season, he was competition's second leading try scorer and had secured a contract with the Melbourne Storm for next season.

Flannery, a 126-gamer in the NRL, believes Jacks can make an impact on the sport's big stage. …
