JUST off Margaret St in Toowoomba's bustling CBD, down a hallway and around a corner is an unusual new business.

Tom Bower opens a door before you can knock, and welcomes you into a room that feels like a modern Monte Carlo.

Wearing a tie whose design features a deck of cards, Mr Bower is the mastermind behind Lights Camera Action Poker, which he says is Australia's first poker training, education and film studio.

Mr Bower has one of those lives you expect to watch in Hollywood.

Raised in Toowoomba, Mr Bower's first job out of school was as a magician at the University of Southern Queensland.

Inspired by late night televised poker games, he started pub poker in Toowoomba then went on to work for world's largest online poker room PokerStars.

His job was to watch people play, looking for cheating and collusive players. Mr Bower's skills have taken him around the world and, of course, to Las Vegas. …
