NORTH East furniture firm Godfrey Syrett is sitting pretty after winning a hat-trick of new national contracts worth more than PS2.2m.

The Durham and Newcastle-based firm, which designs and makes furniture for the education, public, leisure, defence and commercial sectors, says continued growth is coming from all of its markets.

Following a competitive tender process, the company has won a new deal with global construction company Skanska to supply accommodation furniture to a multi-million pound purpose-built military training centre in Winchester.

The project will see the relocation of much of the Defence College of Logistics, Policing and Administration to the site, which will deliver world-class training facilities for key support personnel from each of the UK's armed forces.

The furniture specialists also beat a host of UK competitors to win a contract worth over PS1m with the University of the West of England (UWE) to furnish a new PS50m building which will house the Bristol Business School and Bristol Law School.

Godfrey Syrett will work closely with the university to provide creative solutions to complement the new social and learning spaces within the building which will offer its students and staff an innovative way of studying and working.

David Hall, group sales director at Godfrey Syrett, said: "We are delighted to have been awarded these fantastic projects following a lengthy and highly competitive tender process.

"We have a wealth of experience in delivering projects for both the education and defence sectors and have previously worked with UWE on a number of projects over the past 15 years. We look forward to assisting both organisations in delivering these significant schemes."

The firm has also been awarded a new commercial contract with Lyreco, a worldwide distributor of workplace products.

Working as the contract's lead supplier, Godfrey Syrett will be delivering office furniture solutions to new multi-million pound premises on behalf of an international engineering company in Stafford, which will house over 400 staff. …
