ISLA Fisher embraces her inner housewife in her latest film role.

The Aussie screen export stars opposite The Hangover funny man Zach Galifianakis in a comedy about a couple who suspect there's more to their new neighbours than meets the eye.

Q: How would you describe your character Karen?

A: Karen is a suburban mum who is very much caught up in the carpool grind. She is a little torn in her life because the kids are away at camp and she's feeling a little empty nest syndrome.

Q: What is her reaction when the Joneses move in next door?

A: Well the Joneses are very attractive, in fact they are perfect in every sense; they are the proverbial Joneses. They are gorgeous and not only are they genetically blessed, but they have interesting hobbies. They rescue orphans and Natalie (Gal Gadot) is an amazing chef. So clearly this piques Karen's insecurities. She feels not only insecure but also suspicious and she begins to spy on Tim and Natalie. She thinks there is something odd about them. Her husband doesn't suspect anything, he just likes them, but Karen's a little wiser. She's a typical nosy neighbour.

Q: Karen has fun spying on the Joneses, doesn't she?

A: She likes the idea of spying. She isn't great at the physical aspects of the job, holding the gun and shooting and car chases, but she's pretty good at snooping. …
