Swim Star Now in the Mix; Cody's Wins Make Him Coast's Star

SURF LIFESAVING: Yandina's Cody Rychvalsky was excited to go to the World Surf Lifesaving Championships and he used that excitement to his advantage in The Netherlands.

The Nambour Christian College student returned from the championship last month with a gold and a silver around his neck.

Cody was the sole Australian male sprinter to compete in the Under-19 Youth Lifesaving Team.

He won the under-19 beach sprint, came second in the flags and his team won the overall world championship ahead of New Zealand and Italy.

Cody's achievement adds to his already impressive resume.

He has won no fewer than 20 national, state and local awards in less than two years and was selected by his club (Maroochydore) to go to Japan on exchange as a Surf Life Saving ambassador in 2015.

He is also the district athletics champion in the 100m, 200m, discus, long jump and 4x100m relay.

This month's Sunshine Coast Council Development Award has gone to Met Caloundra athlete Alex Innes. …
