TeesValley's Open for Digital Businesses

Article excerpt

DIGITALCITY is calling upon the country's leading digital innovators to consider making the Tees Valley their home.

Rob Earnshaw, the newly appointed director of DigitalCity, believes that the region offers some of the best conditions in the country for ambitious digital businesses.

DigitalCity, which is based at Teesside University, works to attract investment, enable digital innovation and create business opportunities across the five local authorities which comprise the Tees Valley.

Mr Earnshaw, who took the helm of DigitalCity earlier this year, said the unique conditions within the Tees Valley were perfect for digital businesses.

"The thing that really excites me is the level of support there is for digital innovation," he said.

"The Tees Valley Combined Authority is making it very clear that digital is at the forefront of its economic growth plans.

"As a result, there are unparalleled opportunities for funding and investment.

"Also, because of where the Tees Valley is situated with its transport links, we're very well placed to access the investment opportunities from places like Leeds.

"With places like Fusion Hive in Stockton, the Launchpad at Teesside University and the Boho zone in Middlesbrough we've also got some fantastic premises for businesses of all sizes and sectors.

"Finally there's a continual pipeline of talent coming out of Teesside University, from its Business School through to its School of Computing. Many of the graduates tend to stay in the area, meaning that digital companies in the Tees Valley have access to some exceptionally well-skilled staff."

DigitalCity also has a strong track record for helping to create hundreds of new companies through its DigitalCity Fellowship scheme.

The project is continuing its support for new and growing businesses. …
