How college football players from the Jacksonville area fared in college football last weekend.

- Southwest Baptist NT Shaun Hutchinson (Camden County) had a game-high 13 tackles, including a sack, in a 26-16 loss to Truman.

- Florida A&M DT Adarrius Smith (Fleming Island) had seven tackles and Colby Blanton (Atlantic Coast) punted 11 times for a 46.4-yard average in a 17-13 loss at North Carolina Central.

- Fort Hays State QB Jacob Mezera (Orange Park) threw for 446 yards and five TDs, and he ran for 62 yards and a TD, for a school-record 508 total yards in a 54-41 win at Pittsburg State.

- North Carolina LB Andre Smith (Trinity Christian) had a game-high 15 tackles in a 34-3 loss to Virginia Tech.

- Florida State DE DeMarcus Walker (Sandalwood) blocked a Miami PAT with 1:38 remaining to preserve a 20-19 win at Miami.

- Pitt QB Nathan Peterman (Bartram Trail) completed 14 of 20 passes for 192 yards and a TD in a 37-34 win against Georgia Tech.

- Wake Forest QB John Wolford (Bishop Kenny) threw for 140 yards and he ran for 94 yards and TDs of 7 and 37 yards in a 28-9 win against Syracuse.

- Duke TE Erich Schneider (Episcopal) caught three passes - one for a 3-yard TD - in a 13-6 win against Army.

- Iowa State LB Willie Harvey (Menendez) had eight tackles in a 38-31 loss at Oklahoma State.

- Maryland NG Kingsley Opara (Mandarin) had six tackles and a half-sack in a 38-14 loss at Penn State.

- Florida International RB Alex Gardner (Raines) rushed for 141 yards and a TD, and he caught three passes for 14 yards, in a 35-21 win at Texas-El Paso.

- Old Dominion's Bailey Cate (Orange Park) punted three times for a 42.3-yard average in a 36-16 win against Massachusetts.

- Samford LG Armando Bonheur (Fleming Island) started on an offense that finished with 517 total yards in a 38-21 win against Furman, while RT Jacob Conrad (Clay) started for an offense that had 415 yards in the loss. …
