HARRY KANE admits he will struggle to become an elite player at world level if he does not deliver for England.

Kane has five goals in 17 matches for his country but failed to find the target at Euro 2016, where England were eliminated by Iceland in the last 16.

Kane's aim has always been to reach the level of the world's best strikers, such as Luis Suarez, Robert Lewandowski, Sergio Aguero and Antoine Griezmann.

He knows, though, that he must produce the same form for England as he does for Tottenham to be considered among that group.

Suarez has 47 goals in 88 games for Uruguay, Lewandowski 40 in 84 for Poland and Aguero 33 in 77 for Argentina.

While Griezmann's overall record for France 14 in 38 games is relatively modest for a player of such talent, he was top scorer at Euro 2016 with six goals.

Kane has 66 goals in 126 appearances for Tottenham but he told Standard Sport: "You have to do it on all stages, not just domestic. That means Champions League, World Cup qualifiers, World Cup finals, European Championships.

"A player who can do it on all levels is world class. That is my aim and it is what I am working hard to achieve. I am ready, I am fit and I am confident of scoring goals. Hopefully I can get on a good run of form for England."

Kane can take comfort, though, from his remarkable record in Continued on Page 57 Continued from Back Page derbies, as he prepares to tackle the most famous one British football has to offer.

The 23-year-old has scored five times in four League matches against Arsenal and has also found the net in derbies against Chelsea, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers.

In total, Kane (below) has 15 goals for Spurs against other London sides.

Kane also scored in the 3-2 win last March over Germany, another of England's historic rivals. …
