SWIMMING: An almost complete contingent of members rocked up for Tuesday evening's competition, however Tyler was still a non-starter.

Kicking off the night's proceedings was the 50m freestyle final. Anne Simkus, John Wainwright, Ian Davis and Richard Sear qualified for this event.

Anne on handicap was first in the water. Ian and Searsy took chase shortly afterwards, followed three seconds later by John.

Anne showed a clean pair of heels to all and sundry in this race in a very strong performance.

However, a break of more than two seconds saw her receive a "D" and this elevated Richard to the winning dais. Swimming a slightly slow time, Ian took second place, John third.

Davis was back on the blocks for the 30m freestyle final, with pretty strong competition coming from the likes of David Moon, Damien O'Mahony and Bob Owen.

Marno, with a quick little lunge on the finish line, took this event just 0.36 ahead of Moony. Bob, swimming a time just shy of his nominated one, was third. …
