YOU might have seen those incredible videos on the internet, where they film someone hearing clearly for the very first time.

Perhaps a baby or a toddler, who hears their mum's voice for the first time ever and breaks into a huge smile. We're not sure what happens next, as the tears in our eyes and loud sobbing usually obscures everything that's going on on screen.

Well that's the idea behind this ground-breaking documentary, broadcast live from The Richard Ramsden Centre for Hearing Implants at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

The filmmakers have brought together a group of profoundly deaf people from all over the UK, who have recently had cochlear implant surgery in the hope that they will be able to hear again.

Accompanied by their audiologists and family and friends, we will be able to witness the moment that these patients' implants are turned on for the very first time.

It's a diverse range of people in terms of ages, gender and circumstances. …
