Choir Full of Hope for a Festive Win

ANORTH East choir is going for glory in a national contest at the end of this week.

Voices for Hope clinched their place in the Choir of the Year contest in a tough audition round at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

And the next step now is to compete in Wales in the Grand Final on Saturday.

This special But they will be making time for a very special performance in Newcastle too, where they will be helping to raise money for Maggie's cancer charity as well as Sage Gateshead.

we do at That will see them compete against the other three category winners and two wildcard finalists at Cardiff Millennium Centre where the overall winner will be named 2016's National Choir of the Year. The singers, who also recently performed with a touring West End production of Godspell as well as alongside Brit Award-winners Blake, are delighted at their success so far.

The choir was set up in 2011 for a oneoff memorial concert in Newcastle when it raised money for the British Heart Foundation, a charity which calls its donations Gifts of Hope.

And from there its reputation soared. It still performs at least one concert a year in aid of the BHF so has kept its name from that first performance.

Now its members have their sights firmly set on the big day of the next competition. And Maggie's has fingers crossed too.
