THE festive season is well and truly here with Queens Park transforming into a magical wonderland of lights.

Toowoomba's iconic Christmas Wonderland launched last night with its VIP night and will officially open to the public tonight.

It will run until Saturday, December 24 from 7pm - 10pm at the Botanical Gardens.

The event is organised by Lions Club of Toowoomba West and more than 3000 volunteers hours were required to set up the wonderland.

Set up began on Wednesday, November 16 and project chairman Marshall Cox said this year's show of lights was better than ever.

"Millions of light bulbs were used to create the amazing displays," he said.

"We have lots of new displays but a lot of the old favourites are back again," he said.

"We want to make it a surprise until people get here."

About 80,000 people are expected to visit the wonderland with a gold coin donation required upon entry. …
