NEWCASTLE United's EFL Cup dreams were washed away at Hull City on Tuesday night as a penalty shoot-out saw the black and white faithful leave the KCOM Stadium with their heads in their hands.

Losing a game they controlled for large portions can be frustrating but the run to quarter-finals of the competition has shown that the club is certainly headed in the right direction.
