THE PRICE IS WRONG; 25 Years since Ibrox Win but Dons Shouldn't Be Ruled Out

Article excerpt

THEY say records are there to be broken - and Aberdeen will never have a better chance to end 25 years of Ibrox misery.

That's how long it is since the Dons tasted victory but six days after losing the Betfred Cup Final at Hampden they can enjoy their return to Glasgow today.

My Super Single in Wednesday's paper was Hearts draw no bet against Rangers and would have been the Jambos to win at 2-1 if it hadn't been for the Robbie Neilson to MK Dons saga.

I argued Gers shouldn't be favourites at Tynecastle and they were well beaten. In fact apart from a late flurry when Joe Garner went close twice they never turned up and Mark Warburton described his side's display as "unacceptable".

Aberdeen need to improve on their showing against Celtic but on the evidence of Wednesday have little to fear.

Bookies have again made Rangers favourites at a best 5-4 with McBookie while the Dons were as big as 12-5 at Paddy Power. That allowed me to back the Dons at 6-4 draw no bet or 8-11 at bet365 no to lose but both have been cut already.

It was 2-1 Aberdeen at Pittodrie and before the Cup Final loss the Dons had been in decent form.

Another bet worth considering is Aberdeen to score 2+ at 6-5 with Coral while James Maddison, who netted a last-gasp winner in the Pittodrie win is 7-2 (Paddy Power).

Celtic remain on course for the Treble and it's now eight clean sheets in a row. They are 21-20 at McBookie to win to nil when they visit Motherwell today.

There's no sign of Brendan Rodgers's men slipping up and they are no bigger than 2-9 at Marathonbet just to win.

I suggested Tom Rogic as first scorer at 9-1 against Aberdeen and today will be on Erik Sviatchenko to score at 19-2 with William Hill as he is due one.

The other Premiership games look tough to call but one bet to like is over 2.5 goals at Ross County v Hearts at 9-10 with Marathonbet. All five meetings in Dingwall have gone that way as have both sides' matches in four of their last five outings.

In the Championship take Falkirk at 8-15 with Ladbrokes and Hills against a St Mirren side still looking for a first league win. …
